You could pursue your allied health education for FREE!  WMCC and the North Country Health Consortium have announced the availability of scholarships for students wishing to receive training for Health and Wellness Advocate, Licensed Nursing Assistant, and Medication Nursing Assistant.   Funding covers the tuition, fees, uniforms, books, stethoscopes and other supplies.  You could earn your credential without worrying about the cost.

The Health and Wellness Advocate is a two-course credit-bearing certificate program that can be earned in one semester. A Wellness Advocate’s role is to counsel basic principles and skills of wellness and nutrition.  The cost of the program is $2,042. But you could pursue the program for FREE!

Licensed Nursing Assistants Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) work directly with patients to assist them with personal needs, including mobility, bathing, hair and skin care, oral hygiene, dressing and eating.  Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, they also observe patients, take vital signs, document measurements and observations and perform routine specimen collection. Because of the amount of time they spend with patients and the nature of the care they provide, LNAs play an extremely important role in making the patient's hospital stay as comfortable as possible.  The LNA program is 120 hours, 50 hours of theory and 70 hours of practical experience. The cost of the program is $1,963.  But you could pursue the program for FREE!

The Medication Nursing Assistant program prepares competent MNAs who will function in a long-term care environment and adhere to the NH Board of Nursing regulations for MNA medication administration. WMCC recognizes the increasing nursing shortage as well as the national trend to utilize licensed assistive personnel in a broader manner.  The scope of practice for the MNA is directed toward collaborating with the RN for the administration of medications to support stable individual’s responses to common well-defined health problems in the long-term care setting.  The MNA will perform these functions under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.  MNAs assist the nurse as a valuable team member in the nursing process.  The program content includes: the professional role of the MNA, medical ethics and laws, infection control and safety for administering drugs; basic pharmacology and common drugs used for a broad-range of medical conditions. The students learn medication administration methods.  To be eligible for the MNA program, applicants must be a Licensed Nursing Assistant for a minimum of two years. The MNA program is 70 hours, 35 hours of theory and 35 of practical experience.  The cost of the program is $1,882. But you could pursue the program for FREE!
