Health and Wellness Coach Certificate Cost Estimate

A Wellness Coach’s role is to help individuals meet their personal wellness goals in the capacity of a trusted mentor. The goals may fall within any category of wellness, which include social, physical, mental, environmental, medical and dental, spiritual, nutritional, psychological, occupational, financial, and behavioral wellness.

Wellness Coaches use various techniques to help individuals define their goals for improved health and wellness. They help identify personal strengths and barriers, set reasonable objectives, and monitor progress.  They teach clients how to problem solve and overcome obstacles. The successes are praised, and the coach will serve as a role model to instill a culture change within the community in which he or she serves.

Wellness Coaches can work in one-on-one sessions and in group settings.  These can be a single meeting or regularly scheduled gatherings.  Employment can be obtained within school systems, corporate and smaller business environments, and in health centers.

Therefore, students in office or clinical experiences must demonstrate sufficient emotional stability to withstand the stresses, uncertainties and changing circumstances that characterize client/patient/medical information responsibilities or be removed from placement. Furthermore, the student is expected to have the emotional stability required to exercise sound judgment, accept direction and guidance from a supervisor or faculty member, and establish rapport and maintain sensitive interpersonal relationships with employers, and clients/patients and their families.

Students must also be aware that site placement will require criminal background checks, proof of insurances, general health statements from personal providers, as well as additional titers or vaccinations beyond what the college requires.
