The utilization of all sizes of computers has extended into every area of business, whether large or small, and into most state and local government agencies. As a result, the need for trained personnel in various areas of computer utilization has increased sharply and is continuing. Particularly, the networking of microcomputer systems in companies of every size offers more employment opportunities for the graduate.
The Information Technology concentration provides the student with the skills to support and maintain computer systems in a business environment. Computer skills covered in the program include the hardware and software systems of current computer technology. Networking skills include switching, routing, server operating systems, directory services, and security.
Information Technology prepares students for employment in the area of hardware and software support. The program includes theoretical and practical components, which are suited to entry-level computer hardware/software support technicians. Graduates of the program will have installed various hardware and software configurations, and performed simple to complex troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
