2018/2019 Book Advance Program Instructions
The Book Advance Program allows financial aid recipients who have financial aid funds remaining after the payment of tuition and fees to use the excess to purchase (or rent) books and course related supplies from the WMCC Bookstore, during the book advance period. The book advance period generally starts two (2) weeks prior to the beginning of the semester. Not all financial aid funds may be available for the Book Advance Program and not all financial aid recipients are eligible. Students must complete the WMCC Student Title IV Authorization form to participate in the Book Advance Program. The form was mailed to you with your Award Notification Letter. It is also available in the financial aid office or found online here. Otherwise, click here for complete information.
Federal Work Study Program
The Federal Work-Study Program provides students with an opportunity to earn an hourly wage by working at a part-time job while enrolled in college. In order to participate in the program, students must meet eligibility requirements and demonstrate financial need. The pay rate is currently $8 per hour with pay periods running on a bi-weekly schedule. Students are typically limited to a range of 8-10 hours per week. Students will be responsible for making the initial contact with a supervisor and working out a mutually-acceptable work schedule. Students must complete a payroll packet before beginning work. These packets are available in the Financial Aid Office. Students are encouraged to seek placement in jobs that complement and reinforce their individual educational program and career goals.
