Teacher Preparation Program of Study

Do you have memories of that one special teacher?
We all have fond memories of someone in our life that helped shaped us. What stories we can tell of that very special teacher or teachers who shared their wisdom and passion for what they truly loved to do - teach!
Our Teacher Preparation program concentrates on giving you both the pedagogy and the passion to make a difference in a student's life. The White Mountains Community College Teacher Prep program prepares students for the diverse classroom, through a strong liberal arts core combined with human development, technology, and education courses. Several field experiences, small class sizes, and communication with faculty on a daily basis are what make our students successful educators. The Associate in Art in Teacher Preparation program concentrates on the foundations of education in a well-balanced approach. Students who complete the program have the skills and knowledge to work effectively with all students in public school classrooms. Many of our students are currently employed as NCLB, Title-1, and SPED paraprofessionals as well as coordinators for after-school programs.
White Mountains Community College has transfer affiliations with many baccalaureate degree-granting institutions.
North Country Teacher Certification Program
Earn your bachelor’s degree right here on our campus!
The North Country Teacher Certification Program is a collaboration between Plymouth State University, White Mountains Community College, and Granite Sate College to provide bachelor degrees and teaching certification from Plymouth State University to students in the North Country.
This collaborative program provides a seamless route to teacher certification for graduates of White Mountains Community College, and Granite State College students. Significantly, these students do not have to leave the North Country to obtain their certification and education degrees. Irene Mosedale, director/advisor for the program has an office at White Mountains Community College.
"I applaud Plymouth State University, our ‘champion institution’ for understanding the needs of a rural community college and collaborating with White Mountains Community College to address them. Together, we will be able to produce teacher candidates from the area who are familiar with the community and its schools because they live here" says Deb Stewart, Professor of Teacher Education at White Mountains Community College.
The North Country Teacher certification Program is part of PSU's nationally recognized teacher preparation program. This kind of model for higher education is a model for higher education throughout New Hampshire. "We are very pleased to be working in such a collaborative way with the renowned teacher education program at Plymouth State University, sharing resources, faculty, and programs" says Kathy Eneguess, President, WMCC-Berlin.
