The New Hampshire Community Technical College in Berlin was the obvious choice. When I returned to Northern New Hampshire after five years in the U.S. Marine Corps, my immediate focus was on attending a two year school. Location and costs were key factors and I knew that NHCTC-Berlin was the best "Return on Investment" in the area. Over the next two years, I would discover that location and costs were only two of the things that NHCTC-Berlin did incredibly well. Beyond price and location, they also excelled in current and relevant curriculum, the latest technologies, great teacher-to-student ratios, personalized learning environments, financial aid, a top-notch mentoring program, 2+2 college programs with universities and state colleges within N.H., and exceptional customer service from the administrative offices. I always felt that every member of the NHCTC staff had my best interests in mind when dealing with me.
After graduating from NHCTC-Berlin, I attended a four year state college (as part of the 2+2 program). NHCTC-Berlin does an incredible job aligning its curriculum with that of local area universities and state colleges. As a result, when you graduate from NHCTC-Berlin, you are positioned well to immediately enter a four year university or state college. I think the first two years of post-secondary education sets the tone for the remainder of your college years. I strongly believe that the education I received while attending NHCTC-Berlin was more intense, more challenging, and definitely more rewarding than that of the four year state college I attended.
Condoleezza Rice and Wade
After graduating from NHCTC-Berlin and then Keene State College, I was hired at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. So far this has been a non-stop journey. Currently I am an IT manager and oversee a large array of communications for the American Embassy in Tallinn, Estonia. The education that I received from NHCTC-Berlin enabled me to travel to places such as Paris,France; Libreville, Gabon; Pretoria,South Africa; Windhoek, Namibia; Gaborone,Botswana; Cairo, Egypt; Sao Tome & Principe; Munich, Germany; Vienna, Austria; Ljubljana, Slovenia; Budapest, Hungary; Rome, Italy; Venice, Italy; Prague, Czech Republic; Tallinn, Estonia; Riga, Latvia; Bucharest, Romania; Kabul, Afghanistan; St Petersburg, Russia; and Zurich, Switzerland. All of these places were very interesting to work in and visit. While traveling through these countries, I had the incredible opportunity to meet people like [former Presidents] George H. W. Bush and William Clinton; President George W. Bush, Laura Bush, Shimon Perez, Nelson Mandela, Condoleezza Rice (photo above), Colin Powell, numerous other U.S. ambassadors, and Madeleine Albright.
NHCTC-Berlin opened the door for a world of endless opportunities. Since graduating from NHCTC-Berlin, I have worked with Africans, Afghanis, Central Europeans, and Eastern Europeans. The educational foundation received at CCSNH-Berlin has crossed international borders, languages and cultures. If you have the drive and motivation to attain a higher education then your world is huge. NHCTC-Berlin will give you the tools to succeed and if you are willing to go where the work is, your professional life will be satisfying.
