NH Community College Representatives in Your High School this Fall
Katharine Eneguess, President of the New Hampshire Community College - BerlinI noticed something different this week as I was driving my usual morning route to work: there was more traffic, more people on the sidewalks and police officers and crossing guards directing traffic on the streets near our local schools. That’s right! A new school year has begun! To most students, this is an exciting time of meeting new teachers, learning new subjects, and seeing the familiar faces of friends again. For high school seniors, however, thoughts of, "What am I going to do for the rest of my life?" linger in their minds.
To help prepare students for the decisions that they will need to make upon graduating, high schools everywhere will welcome college representatives from all across the country this fall, in an effort to show their seniors the options that are available to them. Your local New Hampshire Community College in Berlin is no exception. If you are college bound after high school, look for your NHCC-Berlin Admissions Reps at your high school this fall.
In deciding which colleges to apply for, students need to do some research. All colleges have different options to cater to students' needs. Some students would like to pursue a four-year bachelor degree while others are seeking a two-year associate Degree. There are also some students who aren't quite sure what they would like to do and want to start out by taking a class or two to "test the waters." With 19 degree programs, low tuition, and flexible schedules, NHCC-Berlin is a great place to start! Our main campus is located in Berlin, but we also have Academic Centers in Conway, Littleton, and Woodsville for your convenience.
College representatives should encourage students to schedule visits to all of the college campuses that students are interested in. Many local students have already been exposed to NHCC-Berlin at some point in their middle or high school career. Every year, the college hosts numerous events to which high school students are invited. One such event is our annual Fall Open House. This year's Open House will be on Friday, December 7. At this event, College faculty and staff are available to give potential students information about our programs of study, and to answer any questions that students may have. This is always a good time to visit, but students are encouraged to call our Admissions Office any time to schedule an individual meeting with an Admissions Representative.
If you or a family member is thinking about attending college after high school, please remember to look for your New Hampshire Community College representatives in your high school this fall to get your questions answered. If you would like to schedule an appointment to visit the campus, please call us at 603-752-1113 or 800-445-4525. We look forward to meeting with you!
