Tracia O'Shana

Tracia O'Shana teaches Anatomy and Physiology at the Woodsville Academic Center. Tracia has taught at the Littleton NHCTC Campus and is also an Instructor of Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School. Tracia is a GI Nurse Practitioner at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

When asked what she likes about being a teacher for the Woodsville Campus of CCSNH-Berlin she replied, "I just love to teach. Teaching Anatomy and Physiology to students working towards careers in the health care field allows me to combine my day job with teaching. I am able to connect examples from my work as a nurse practitioner to the content of my class. All of my students at NHCTC are very focused and dedicated to their education. They work incredibly hard and are not afraid to learn new things and to see things in new ways. I am really glad to be playing a part in helping these exceptional students become health care professionals."

One of Tracia's students told her, "I have a bone to pick with you. With your emphasis (insistence) on learning the interconnectedness and relationships of all the aspects of Anatomy and Physiology, I find I am looking at things at my work and in my home life the same way. Thanks a lot!" An important part of all of Tracia's classes has been learning more than just the facts and details of a subject, but also the development of the thinking skills needed to understand how all the aspects of human anatomy work together and are essential to all other parts of the whole of human anatomy. Studying complex systems and organisms in this way has been important for students in their careers. It has also been valuable in helping them see some of the complexities and interrelationships of the broader world.
