"The Greening of the North Country" Event Planned for Berlin

White Mountains Community College will host a half-day event highlighting green energy technologies for residential and commercial deployment on Saturday, October 25 from 8:30 a.m. to noon in Berlin. Among the technologies presented in panel discussion format will be geothermal, solar, wind, and biomass. Following the morning presentations there will be a demonstration of a prototype biomass gasification unit.

Frank Clulow, Vice President of Academic Affairs, is the organizer of the event. "We anticipate an informative and exciting day," Clulow says. "WMCC's commitment to be an information and workforce development resource in the community makes it essential that we open our doors to the public and share with them the latest information on various alternative energy technologies." Topics include domestic geothermal, solar, wind, pellet and biomass as alternative energy resources. "We also view this event as an opportunity to explore how White Mountains Community College can position itself to train for the next generation of green jobs, while providing valuable information to the public," says Clulow.

Refreshments and registration will take place from 8:30 to 9:00 at the college campus in Berlin, with a panel discussion from 9:00 to noon. The biomass gasification demonstration will be held immediately afterwards. Preregistration is encouraged.
