Paint, Marble, and Words: Fiction and Art
Beginning in September, the Berlin Public Library and the White Mountains Community College Fortier Library, with funding provided by the New Hampshire Humanities Council, will host a book discussion/lecture series entitled "Paint, Marble, and Words: Fiction and Art" at the Fortier Library at White Mountains Community College. Local scholar and librarian Ingrid Graff and the Arts Alliance of Northern New Hampshire's Frumie Selchen will lead the discussions in the series, and David Smith, Professor of Art History at the University of New Hampshire, will lecture on Vermeer.
All four discussions and the lecture will be on Wednesday evenings, beginning at 7 p.m.
The schedule is as follows:- September 17th, Ingrid Graff: Stone Virgin by Barry Unsworth.
- October 15th, Frumie Selchen: The Lady and the Unicorn by Tracy Chevalier
- October 29th, David Smith: “The Art and Life in Vermeer”
- November 12th, Ingrid Graff: Girl in Hyacinth Blue by Susan Vreeland
- January 14th, Ingrid Graff: The Other Side of You by Salley Vicker
Copies of the books will be available for loan at both the White Mountains Community College Fortier Library and the Berlin Public Library. Refreshments will be served. For more information, contact the Berlin Public Library at 752-5210 or the Fortier Library at 752-1113.
