Wireless Networks A.M & P.M.
Wondering about wireless Internet access? Thinking about expanding your wireless network? Are you considering connecting multiple buildings with wireless technologies? Thinking about creating a wireless classroom or office with laptops? This session discusses, explains, and demonstrates the planning, implementation, use and, management of wireless networks. Also explained are calculations, antennas, transmission lines, access points, and clients.
Introduction to PowerPoint (P.M. Only)This workshop covers the basic fundamentals of incorporating PowerPoint in a presentation. The participants will learn how to use animation, drawing tools, clipart, and screen captures to create informative visual aids. Various printing options will be discussed to create class notes, handouts, and lecture notes. You should come prepared with materials to create a PowerPoint presentation that can be used in lectures when you return to your own classes or business.
How GIS is Being Used in K-12 (A.M. Only)This workshop will explore what Geographic Information Systems is and what resources are available for teachers. Several examples will be provided of how teachers are integrating GIS into their existing curricula.
Integrating PDAs Into Your Classroom (A.M. & P.M.)This workshop will cover Palm Pilot applications as a low-cost alternative to PCs for students in grades K-12, for staff use, and for employees in all kinds of situations. Workshop will include a "test drive" of the Palm PDA.
Global Positioning Systems (GPS) (A.M. & P.M.)The GPS workshop will give participants hands-on practice using a hand-held GPS. Fundamentals of setting waypoints, navigation, storing data and downloading data into a GIS program will be covered. Participants will spend part of the workshop outside; appropriate clothing is needed.
On-Line Learning (A.M. & P.M.)Discover what on-line learning is all about from an instructor's and learner's viewpoint.
