The Berlin Public Library and the NH Community College - Berlin Fortier Library, with funding provided by the New Hampshire Humanities Council, will be hosting a Fall Book discussion series entitled "Speculate: A New Past, a Different Present, an Out-of-this-World Future." North Country writer Craig Doherty will lead the first of four discussions in the series, on Wednesday, August 29th, 2007 at 7 p.m. when Ursula LeGuin's Left Hand of Darkness will be the topic of discussion.
Marion Schafer, professor emeritus at NH Community College-Berlin, will lead the discussion on Wednesday, September 26th at 7 p.m. of Philip Pullman's The Golden Compass.
Marion Schafer will return on Wednesday, October 24th at 7 p.m. to talk about Neuromancer by William Gibson.
The final session of the fall series on Beggars in Spain by Nancy Kress will be held on Wednesday, November 14th at 7 p.m. and will be led by Craig Doherty.
All four sessions of the discussion series will be held at the Fortier Library at NH Community College - Berlin. Copies of the books will be available for loan at both the CCSNH-Berlin Fortier Library and the Berlin Public Library. Refreshments will be served.
