WMCC Sends a Team to the GearWrench Speed Challenge on Friday, 9/23
The GearWrench Speed Challenge has invited a WMCC team to compete at this weekend's NASCAR race as part of the TechEd Build and Race Challenge. Each team has been challenged to tear apart and put back together a bicycle and ride it on the track. The WMCC team has been working together since the semester started and the rules continue to change. New details and instructions have been coming out each week to challenge the team and they have moved from a tricycle to now a full bicycle. They will appear at the NASCAR track this Friday, September 23. This is an effort by GearWrench to highlight community colleges and automotive programs. WMCC was asked by the company to create a team. To cheer them on, watch the race on the SPEED channel at 11:30 p.m. Friday.
Cameron Brown, Matt Dupont, Alan Farrar, and Brent Kay are the WMCC team members. WMCC instructor Allen Host will be there also, but will not be allowed to work on or drive the bike. Matt and Brent will be racing the trike. Each will do two laps (changing the rider after two laps) on the course set up by GearWrench, which will be in the shape of an oval.
