Early Childhood Initiative

wmcc Early Childhood InitiativeThe Early Childhood Initiative (ECI) at White Mountains Community College (WMCC) is working with other local and regional partners to create an environment in which Coös County will have highly trained qualified professionals and strong organizations working together in coordinated systems to support children, ages 0-5, over a minimum of five years. The end result should be an increased number of children who are thriving physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially and are “ready to learn” upon entering the public school system.

This initiative is part of the Early Childhood Development North Country Strategy funded by the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. This five-year initiative is designed to help all children thrive by focusing services and information for parents on the early years of growth and development, supporting professional development and continued education for early childhood professionals, increasing access to infant mental health, and strengthening childcare and preschool services for all children, ages 0 – 6, in Coos County. We believe that investing early in families with young children will improve the future community and economic vitality and stability of the North Country.
