Health, Safety, and Nutrition for the Young Child covers the fundamental issues and policies of health, safety, and nutrition in early childhood settings as they relate to cultural norms. The course places special emphasis on the Health and Physical Development domains, as well as the Social and Emotional Development domains, of the NH Early Learning Standards. Students explore the licensing issues, along with medical, legal, family, and developmental issues as they apply to the health and wellness of young children ages birth to 8 years old. To add to their professional portfolios, students create classroom materials that support health and physical development, as well as social and emotional development.
