6pm: How Vaccines Work and How They Have Been Developed

Join UNH Extension’s Master Wellness Volunteer Suz Friedrich, and Health & Well-Being Program Team Leader Michael Young, as we explore the stories behind vaccination. We will discuss how vaccines work and how they have been developed. Vaccines discussed will include Flu, COVID-19, RSV and more.  Suz Friedrich retired in 2019 from a 36-year career at John Snow Institute, a public health consulting firm, working to improve the health and wellbeing of underserved and vulnerable populations in the US and overseas, and continues her interest in public health and primary care volunteering with the UNH Cooperative Extension Health and Well-Being Program with a focus on promoting vaccination.   Michael Young is the Program Team Leader for UNH Extension Health & Well-Being programs. His team’s work includes educational and systems-level programs across the lifespan, focused on nutrition, food access, chronic disease prevention & management, mental health, wellness and more.  This program is sponsored, in part, by the North Country Health Consortium and by EXCITE: Extension Collaboration on Immunization Teaching and Engagement.
