  •  (allowed 2 semesters as non-matriculated student as long as student has applied for admission and is waiting for acceptance)
  • Student must have a NOBE (DD2384) Notice of Basic Eligibility (verified and signed by the State Montgomery GI Bill® Manager-Guard or Reserve Unit)
  • First time applying for MGIB benefits-complete a VA Form 22-1990 (process by mail or electronically)  use this link: https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/
  • Student must verify enrollment no earlier than the last day of each month and on the last date of the semester enrolled in the College
  • Monthly payment is to be treated as reimbursement to the student
  • Payment that will cover bill

Post 9/11 (Chapter 33)

  • First time applying for Post 9/11 – complete a VA Form 22-1990 (process electronically or by mail) use this link: https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/
  • Total months of active duty will determine percentage of education benefits – 40 to 100%; VA makes this determination
  • Admitted to a degree or certificate program use this link: https://www.wmcc.edu/admissions/ (allowed 2 semesters as non-matriculated student as long as student has applied for admission and is waiting for acceptance)
  • Supply school with certificate of eligibility that shows months of eligibility and percentage of benefits
  • BAH eligibility – student must be 51% of full-time status; VA pays in arrears
  • Book stipend – VA pays up to $1,000 per year depending on percentage of eligibility; VA pays no sooner than two weeks prior to the start of the semester
  • Tuition and Fees use this link: https://www.wmcc.edu/affordability/ paid directly to school depending on percentage of eligibility
  • Payment arrangements are needed unless 100% eligibility documentation is provided
  • $100 tuition deposit is not required if 100% eligibility documentation is provided

Dependent of a deceased or disabled Veteran (Chapter 35 – DEA)

  • First time applying for dependent benefits-complete a VA Form 22-5490 (process by mail or electronically) use this link: https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/
  • Need Veterans File Number (or social security number)
  • Monthly payment is to be treated as reimbursement to the student
  • Payment-Student must pay up front, use installment payment plan, or be awarded financial aid that will cover bill

Veteran Readiness and Employment Program (Chapter 31 – VR&E)

  • Disabled Veteran (training for workforce re-entry covers tuition, fees, books basic supplies and small stipend)
  • Approved by a VA Vocational Rehabilitation Office  use this link: https://www.benefits.va.gov/vocrehab/index.asp
  • Form 28-1905 will be forwarded to the Certifying Official for Military Benefits in the Registrar’s Office at WMCC by the VA Vocational Rehabilitation Office the student is working with
  • Payment is treated as third party billing approved by the VA Vocational Rehabilitation Office
  • $100 tuition deposit is not required if authorization for the VA Vocational Rehabilitation Office is provided
