This course explores the methods of examining welds utilizing nondestructive techniques. These methods are applied to discover discontinuities within welded material and determine if a weld is structurally sound. Testing and examination methods explored include visual testing (VT), liquid penetrant testing (PT), magnetic particle testing (MT), ultrasonic testing (UT), radiographic testing (RT), and electromagnetic testing (ET). Students will become familiar with the application and suitability of each of these methods in the various sectors of the welding industry. (Pre-requisites: WELD106W, WELD110W, WELD115W, WELD125W, WELD203W or POI; Co-requisites: CAR101W, WELD206W, WELD216W WELD221, WELD226 or POI)
