This combined classroom and practical course in Commercial Driver Training provides a comprehensive study of the basics of commercial driving and their application, with a focus on the safe, legal, and professional operation of a variety of vehicles for which commercial licensure is a prerequisite. This course also focuses on the skills and behavioral characteristics of a professional commercial driver. Students receive specific instruction that prepares them for learners’ permit testing. The course also covers preparation and study for additional endorsements. Other topics include air-brake fundamentals, vehicle and cargo safety, closed-course and open-road vehicle maneuvers, and a commercial motor vehicle operator capstone.
